Film recommendations | Halloween edition

I thought I'd put a little collection of film recommendations down for those who are after a decent watch this Halloween. I have avoided giving my thoughts on each film individually as if I didn't enjoy them I wouldn't be telling you to watch them. Also if you look at my last 2 posts I'm trying to deter away from making my posts too text heavy. Personally I find it slightly off putting when people rabbit on for the sake of writing (inb4: my first blog post doesn't count!) and I prefer to see posts that are to the point & straight forward so hopefully anything that appears on my blog will be in this format. Feedback on this would be greatly appreciated so I can start a posting and scheduling system. I feel so un-organised!

Top left to right -

A Serbian Film (2010)
An aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.

Boogeyman (2005)
A young man tries to deal with the childhood terror that has affected his life.

Hellraiser (1987)
An unfaithful wife encounters the zombie of her dead lover; demons are pursuing him after he escaped their sadomasochistic underworld.

Ichi the Killer (2001)
As sadomasochistic yakuza enforcer Kakihara searches for his missing boss he comes across Ichi, a repressed and psychotic killer who may be able to inflict levels of pain that Kakihara has only dreamed of.

Bottom left to right -

Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.

Identity (2003)
Stranded at a desolate Nevada motel during a nasty rain-storm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they're being killed off one by one.

Frankenweenie (2012)
Young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

The Entity (1982)
Supposedly based partially on a true story, a woman is tormented and sexually molested by an invisible demon.

The Amityville Horror (remake- 2005)
A family is terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a home that was the site of a grisly mass-murder.

Synopsis' took from IMDB.com

P.S If you are easily offended do me a favour and don't watch A Serbian Film. It's grim as fuck and you'll only hate me and yourself afterwards.

  1. I like the range you have going on in this list--especially how you even have some '80s films! (I'm a sucker for '80s horror.) I usually get hung up on stating something like, "Nothing beats the first in the series." But when it comes to Boogeyman, I thought Boogeyman 2 was so much better! I have yet to see Boogeyman 3, so I can't compare there, but I've heard they are all completely different films.

    1. I wasn't a fan of Boogeyman 2 personally but I do know others who prefer it!
Yes older horror was much better than most recent stuff! :)

  3. Fab film picks, Sleepy Hollow is a classic for me and I've heard so many good things about Cabin in the Woods. Hocus Pocus, Orphan and The Unborn are definitely up there for me as well.
